Tasks

The main tasks/activities of the project are:

  • Gathering of all the current technical and practical knowledge (education) existing in Europe related to wind mills maintenance.

The partnership will organise focus groups and interviews with companies, training agents and research centres in order to find out the current knowledge of the sector on wind mills maintenance. Each partner will gather the same information through the use of standardized interview and focus groups tools and the most critical maintenance tasks will be identified and prioritised by the companies and training centres.

  • Finding out the Qualification Systems for wind mills maintenance technicians in Europe

Partners will have to research, identify and collect, each one in their own country the Qualification System framework (Qualification Profile Catalogue) for wind mills maintenance technicians. Based on these, the partnership will be able to better define the operative objectives that the training tool should meet.

  • Creation of a database storing the knowledge in the issue
  • Description and planning of the new standard training programme
  • Design of practical virtual reality based simulations

This task refers to the development of Virtual Reality based technical simulations, which will contribute to the quality and attractiveness of the final training tool that will be produced by this project. The simulations will not only allow in time and cost efficient training processes for students but will also decrease safety risks during some tasks, as in blade maintenance.

  • Implementation of simulations in an e-learning platform

An e-learning platform will be used to include the new on-line training programme of wind mills maintenance and the simulations of virtual reality. The platform will have to be SCORM compliant and easily adaptable in order to conform with the latest technological and pedagological trends.

  • Adapt contents to different European languages and cultures
  • Implementation of the prototype at pilot testings/ trainings with wind mill maintenance technicians
  • Improvement of the prototype based on the feedback from the pilots
  • Development of the final prototype, testing and evaluation
  • Dissemination and exploitation of project results
